Tree topology
Tree topology is a specific kind of network topology in which all of the various devices in the network are connected to a Central Hub or from there root node,It should atleast have three levels of hierarchy.

  • It used in wide area network.
  • Ideal if workstations are located in groups.

Advantages of Tree topology:
  • Easy to add and remove nodes.
  • It can be use for large networks.
  • Extension of bus and star topologies.
  • Easily managed and maintained.
  • Root node act as server.
Disadvantages of Tree Topology:
  • Huge cabling is needed.
  • Costly due to there cabling.
  • A lot of maintenance is needed.
  • If herirchy is increased then maintinance cost will also high
  • Backbone forms the point of failure.
