Star topology

Star topology is a specific kind of network topology in which all of the various devices in the network are connected to a Central Hub.

It can use twisted pair, Optical Fibre or coaxial cable for connnected  through root node which acts as server for all other nodes.

Advantages of tree topology:
  • Easy to add and remove nodes.
  • It can be use for large networks.
  • Central hub can be upgrade easly.
  • Easy to find problems.
  • Fast performance and few nodes and low traffic consation.

Disadvantages of Star Topology:
  • A lot of maintenance is needed.
  • Backbone forms the point of failure.
  • Expensive to use.
  • Performance is based on the hub that is it depends on its capacity
