8} Headphones:
Headphones are the output device which is used to listen audio without disturbing to others. This will be connected to our electronic devices like computer, laptop, smartphones, ipod, music player to listening audio with the audio jack such as 3.5 mm. They are plug and play device which doesn’t requires any sort of installation. In the current scenario headphones are also available in much smaller format that is inserted into the ears and commonly called earbuds. Now a days headphones will be presented in wired or wireless in both the way.

The headphones first time introduced by Nathaniel Baldwin in the 1910, who made them by hand in his kitchen and sold them to the U.S. Navy. Early headphones were simple and were used as an earpiece device without complicated electronics.
The function of headphones is same as standalone speakers but there output is different. Speakers generate enough amplitude for the sound to be hear from far away. While in the headphones the sound waves will be few millimeter from our ears. So that the component of headphones are much smaller than the speaker. Most of the headphones supports the full range of frequency from 20-20,000Hz. However, the bass is less noticeable since they don’t move as much air. Some of the digital headphones have digital- to-analog converter(DAC) in order to produce the analog output.
Headphones come in many shapes and sizes, but a few common types are listed below.
a)     In-ear - earphones that fit snuggly in your ear canal; typically contain rubber ends that help give them a secure fit.

b)    Earbuds - earphones that rest inside the edge of your ear; often included with smartphones and portable media players.

c)     On-ear - headphones that rest on your ears but don't encompass the whole ear; helps isolate outside sounds.

d)    Over-ear - headphones that wrap around your ears; also called "around-ear" or "circumaural" headphones; come in open and closed versions. Open versions allow all outside noise, while closed versions limit external sounds.
